Our elevator crashed in NYC injuring my foot

I was one of a group of 7 that vacationed in a New York Hotel about 3 weeks ago. On our first day our elevator crashed two floors and wedged in between floors. In the drop my foot was sprained. We also were very humiliated and scared when we almost suffocated because the hotel did not call the fire dept but handled the situation themselves. We were dragged out of a hole in the top and I my self as well as some others were bruised, filthy and embarrassed. All in all it was horrible. I limped around for the whole 7 seven days of my vacation and I am still wearing a leg boot. The hotel is asking me to see my medical bills , only after humiliating us in front of the staff and hotel guest. What is their responsibility in this situation? Karla (Mobile,AL)
