Hello my name is mark, and I need some advice on getting a warrent squashed. I got a dui in New Jersey in 1987 and when I went to court the cop never showed up. Apparently there are no statue of limitations on a dui in new jersey. I havent owned a car or licecnce since(for other reasons) but I would like to see my mother without the fear of getting identified. I live in California so I was wondering if it can be handled with a letter or something. I no longer drink nor do I drive so I don't need a licence. I have no intention of moving back to new Jersey. I thought it was lack of prosecution but i am not sure. 22 years ago and they still have an active warrent. Any and all advice will be appreciated thank you

If you went to court and the cop never showed up that should have been a default judgment in your favor.

I would call a lawyer in NJ (you should be able to get that free consultation) and explain to them what happened. They would best be able to answer that one. I would figure that there would be a statute of limitations.
