Hello,

I recently purchased a home and I am renting out the upstairs apartment and occupying the lower. I want to familiarize myself with general landlord/tenant law in New York State. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There often are some handbooks on the market, called "Landlord's handbook" or similar and state specific. Go to www.amazon.com and put in New York landlord and similar search terms.

The law itself is pretty dry to read, so it is better to have such an annotated book, if it was written by a competent guy.
