Hi, we have recently been getting our groceries delivered due to COVID-19, we are doing our best to stay safe and healthy, we wipe down anything that is delivered to us before bringing it inside.

anyway, we just received our groceries from Walmart this morning, while putting a carton of ice cream away in the fridge, the top popped right off, no security seal, no seal under the lid, we had to throw out the brand new tub of ice cream, at some point this ice cream was taken off the shelves by an employee and put into our cart, wouldn't they realize there is no security seal, and on top of this, there has been a number of people licking the tops of ice cream cartons, (IN WALMART)

Is there any case here at all? or any repercussions for the lack of quality control for walmart delivery?
During a time like this, I think especially delivery services should be doing everything to ensure a safe delivery.

    SMH
Contact Walmart and let them know. They should credit the item.

You didn't "have to throw [it] out." You chose to do that. It's been a while since I last bought ice cream, but I can't recall every buying ice cream that had a "security seal" or "seal under the lid."

A case of what? When you contacted the store's customer service department about this, what response did you receive?

I'm sure they do, but I sure as heck don't want anyone pulling lids off stuff I've ordered.

yes Ive seen them with a plastic seals around the lid of the ice cream, I thought it would be mandatory by now, My wife has been dealing with "customer service" all morning she said they don't have a call center at all right now because of COVID-19 so everything is done online or through the app, anyway they refunded us our money with no questions asked.
thanks for the info all, stay safe!

At the end of the day, we're talking about what...a $5 item?

Next time you order, you can include a note that says you don't want ice cream (or anything else) unless it has a "safety seal."

yes but its the principle, were doing our part to order online and not spread anything and they should do their part in ensuring quality and safety, what if someone did lick the top of the ice cream and we didnt think twice, ate it, and got the coronavirus, THAT is worth more than 5$

These guys and gals are handling hundreds, if not thousands, of items each day and something slipped by. It was just a mistake, and you should report it to the store, but don't expect anything but a refund on the item. Since you seem so altruistic about it, why don't you refuse the refund?

The chances that you would get the 'rona from eating ice cream that someone else had licked are virtually nil. Even the packaging probably wouldn't transmit the virus, but wash your hands if you are concerned.

You can't sue based on what-if. You didn't eat the ice cream and you didn't get sick. So you're not going to get anything based on something that didn't happen.

Nothing you supposed happened to you, thank God.

    You even received your refund.

    You've been made whole.

    Walmart made it right.

No, it's a customer service issue.

AND, keep in mind that this store and thousands of other companies are handling a monumental change in how they do business with virtually no warning or advance preparation. Things like this are bound to happen, no matter how careful everyone is. Getting up in arms about possibly having "a case" over something like this is beyond absurd.

But that didn't happen, and the law does not reward folks who weren't injured for "what if."

Some ice cream companies put that sealed wrap on their product, some don't.

So the real issue is greed.... You think Walmart should pay you more since your ice cream didn't have a seal. I think you should move on...
