Here is the Situation
My step daughter from a previous marriage was having alot of problems with her mom. it was bad enough the State opened a case and suggested removing here from the home and putting here in a Group home.
Me and my current wife offered to let her come stay with me. She has stayed with us before and we never had any problems out of her. That was in December. 2 months went ok with her living with us then the problems started. Not respecting rules, lieing, coming and going when she pleased, hitting my other kids, just some real bad behavior. We got alot of that under control over the course of the next month which brings us to April.
Last week was the final straw, One night about bed time she was angry about something i do not even know what but she was yelling and screaming in my face about something i had nothing to do with or no control over and i told here many times to stop so i ended up slapping her across the face.
the next day i get a call from her school and they said she was in the office saying that we are beating her and abuseing her and have been for months.
This was the only time i had ever laid my hands on her. I'm not worried about an investigation, Her history is well documented with the sate already. But she put my 4 other kids at risk over her behavior and that i will not tolerated and frankly i do not have too.
I called her moM on Thursday and told her i needed to send her home. She lives in Texas we live in Kansas. Her mom told me to to take her to her dads house. He lives about 30 mins from us. So on Friday that is what i did. He took her said he would for a few days because she is not allowed back in my house. The whole weekend he has been calling demanding a plane ticket to send her back to texas. The mother has res custody and i have legal guardian ship papers that i have never signed. Thh father fought for res custody's about 2 years ago and gave up and has not talked to them since.
What i am wondering is am i liable for anything at this point. I dropped her off willing at her biological parents house he willing took her in. I can not afford to buy her a plane ticket and i disagree with sending her back to Texas to go to a group home. I would rather see him step up and at least try to see if he can help her.
The mother really has no choice here. He has 2 other kids in the home from the same father , no job and no way to pick her up from an airport. Even if she does get her from the airport she will have to be turned over to teh state which no one wants even the father.
So the second question is what can the father do if the mother refuses to take her?
