I am a recently separated father of one living in the republic of ireland. i always had a great relationship with my 10year old daughter and we were very close. when i moved out of the family home, she was hurt but i still picked her up a few times a week and we were getting on fine and she also phoned me very often.
however, a couple of months later she stopped contacting me. her mother (my ex wife) text to say she didnt want to see me and i had to give her space. this went on for months with no replys and not seeing her at all.
We recently went through family mediation services here and all looked well. my daughter came in to see the mediator and set out steps for getting back in touch with me. However, since mediation finished, the steps seem to mean nothing. my daughter is texting me but refuses to let me phone her (which is step2). she wants to meet with me but only if her mother is present which complicates things as the plan set out in mediation now mean nothing.
Also, her mother is supposed to be encouraging her to move on but now she's saying she doesn't want to jeopardise her relationship with our daughter by pushing her. i feel like i'm losing her forever and i don't know what to do. we were always very close and now its as if she's afraid to be with me.
i also should add that i've recently moved in with my new partner but my daughter has been told that if she comes to see me it will be just alone time for me and her and she doesn't have to see my new partner until she is ready.
any advice greatly appreciated! should i get back in touch with the mediation service or what should i do?
i should also add that i am paying the agreed maintenance money every week.
thank you.
