Hi,

3 years back I was convicted of petty disorderly persons offense -
improper behaviour or something like this - in the state of NJ
punishable by up to 30 days in prison. The punishment though was
a fine of $200 plus the court costs.

Now it is time for me to apply for naturalization but I wonder how
this criminal record reflects on my being a person of a good moral chracter.
I read that most criminal convictions are only temporary bars for
citizenship, so the question is how long is the wait in my situation.

Another thing, I was never fingerprinted or photographed, is there still
a record somewhere in the FBI databases or is it just silently buried
in the municipal court archive?

Thank you.

I have no idea if it was buried in the archives but you will still be required under law to disclose them. The conviction is also of issue and I think the crime might be one of "moral turpitude" so this rather small issue might be something to require further review. Given the competition for naturalization, this may be an issue.
