I am a single parent of a 2 year old son. I had my son when i was 16 years old. When I was 17, i willingly allowed my 14 month old go to my brother due to circumstances. I felt i couldn't AT THE TIME provide him with what i thought he deserved. This was in his best interest. I never went through any court systems signing over any rights. All i signed was a power of attorney form so they could bring him to the doctor, etc. I have visisted him, I call him near every day, i send him things etc. I planned on moving down there on mothers day and they told me i couldnt cuz i didnt have a car. I then planned on driving down there on the 15th to pick him up. They asked if i could wait and fly down and stay for two weeks. So My flight is supposed to leave tomorrow at 5 am. I get a call saying that they went to the court and asked for EMERGENCY custody. I don't understand how they can do this. I am a perfectly fit mom. I have a home, car, job, i dont use drugs, i have no prior charges of anything. I am wondering what i should do and if since i still have full custody if i can go down there and just get him or will i get arrested? I am in iowa, he is in texas. I'm trying to figure out the way to go about this without getting in trouble and getting my son back asap. I feel my brother and soon to be ex wife have the wrong intentions and want him cuz they cant have a kid of their own. any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

If they were granted emergency custody already, then you no longer have custody and you can't just take your son. You need a lawyer.
