My mother has just passed away with no will. Now My Stepfather saying he is the next of kin. And going about his buissness in a very, very what I belive is to be an Illeagal way. He is trying to sell every thing including my mother's grand piano and several family heirlooms my mother had possed long before she had married that man. Like My grandparents wedding rings and things of that sort. I also had a signifigant amount of personal belongings at thier homew and now my Step father is saying I have no right to even my belongings.

Worried in Oregon

Do you have a question?

My suggestion would be to consult an estates attorney in your jurisdiction. I don't know what Oregon's intestacy laws are, but I suspect your stepfather is not entitled to the entire estate. He may not have the right to administer the estate either, and you could contest that.
