Mechanics Lien

I brought my car to a mechanic to get work done on it. He quoted me a price and I told him to do the work. That was over three months ago. He has been contact often, and recently daily. He keeps giving me the run around and tells me, "He found this problem and that problem, I should get the car back tomorrow." I'm fed up! I don't even want the car back anymore. I had to go out and buy a different vehicle to get to work and live my life. Is there anything I can do to avoid paying the mechanic and just leave him my vehicle??

Well, you can ty to avoid paying him by simply not paying him and telling him to take the car instead.

Whether he will be happy to accept the car in satisfaction of whatever bill you have incurred is up to him. If he wants, he could try to sue you for the difference in value.

You really think the car will be worth less than whatever bill he plans to stick you with? If it were me, I would sooner contest the bill than just give this charlatan my car.
