How much time after an incident, do I have to file a malpractice suit in New York State?

For Medical Malpractice in the state of New York, action must be filed within thirty (30) months from the date the injury occurred and for malpractice based on the presence of a foreign object in the body of the patient, an action must be filed within one (1) year of the date the injury (object) was discovered.

For all other types of professional malpractice including legal malpractice, the statute of limitation is three (3) years.
