Legal age to move out in texas

i know someone that is turning 18 and wants to move out of her moms house.Her mom is telling her that if she does she will call the police on her and the family that she is moving in with! what can she do?

She can move out. But not until she is actually 18. The police will not follow up on an 18 year old who moves out since an 18 year old can legally leave home. A 17 year old cannot and the police might or might not act.

Of course, once she does so, she need not expect any support, financial or otherwise, from her mother. She will be completely on her own financially. Can she support herself without any help?
