i am trying to figure out if nyc has been scamming me, in 1994 i was ordered by the court to pay child support for MY two girls which i had no problem with. i faithfully paid my child support and was never! behind. i paid support until both of my girls were 21 years old. the word "defendant" really pisses me off but thats another story. whatt i am trying to find out is at what age does ny concider a person an adult? if its 21 then my question is moot, but if ny police arrest a person and they are over 18 they are held in jail as an adult. so which one is it 18 or 21???????????????????????????????????????????
my current wife using a calculator figures that if the legal age is 18 then nyc has scammed me out of 20,000 dollars.

You're confusing child support laws in NY with criminal laws in all 50 states!

You're an adult at 18 according to the law.

You can get married, vote, contract, and even buy cigarettes; if you're so inclined.

However, you can't buy liquor, wine, or beer; can you?

Why?

It's the law.

No rhyme or reason, it's just the silly, arsed law.
