Last Name

My ex-girlfriend is pregnant. I have been and plan to be involved in every aspect of my child's life. Recently she has decided that the baby will take her last name (naturally, this was decided without my consent or input). Is this allowed? Is there anything I can do to stop this? I'm going to pay child support, does that mean anything?
