My adult daughter and her infant daughter have been staying with me temporarily while she is looking for a place to live. My landlord has not wanted here to stay here, but has charged me additional rent to allow her to stay through the end of the month. She has said that friends of hers that have rentals have said that she could be liable in the event my daughter or her baby were hurt while on the premises. My research has found that she would only be liable if she was negligent in maintaining the property, which she hasn't. I have renters insurance and told her I would take full responsibility. What is my landlord's exposure?

No one can tell you what the LL's exposure might be.

Read your lease. You can only be charged if its in your lease, not by whim of the landlord.

The smart thing to do, make your daughter pay it (or pay you back), and let it go.
Why?
Some people seek revenge, even if you're right.

If it were me, I'd pay it and live in peaceful bliss.
