I live in Manassas, VA in an apartment complex where pets are not allowed. I adopted a kitten out of many from a hoarder who was going to have them all sent to the shelter and euthanized. A maintenance person came to perform a routine maintenance in my unit and discovered the kitten. Now, the landlord wants the kitten gone by tomorrow. What can I do to keep the kitten and not be evicted from the apartment?

See if the landlord will accept a security deposit and a monthly pet deposit fee. If no fexibility from your LL, you will have to make a tough decision. Hope this helps!

There are laws that allow support animals in non-pet housing, including emotional support. If you suffer from a documented medical condition, you can get an exception to the no-pet rule, but if you not, then you have no recourse.
