Company had several lay off this last year and verbally, requested employees to voluntarily cut hours by one day a week. Reinforced that we are not laid off. (If you want a job then volunteer or be laid off/terminated)
There is not and has not been any written clarification of how this is done & what benefits, holidays benefits vacations that. Would be effected;
the company have cut hours on salary employees and still reporting on pay stubs as 80 hrs per pay period with lower salary for non exempt salaried employees.
The actual hours are now 64 weekly hours but continue to be shown on pay stub as 80 hrs with lower salary.
the company refuses to put any changes in writing and continually to changes policies regarding pay, benefits, and holidays.
The HR person, does not know what is ethically and legally right and does not stand up for the employees, only does what management tells her to do.
We do not know how it is being reported to the governing bodies. Or how that will affect any possible future unemployment or social security benefits.
Published holidays have been cut, vacations days required if holidays now taken.
Full time employee's still receives the paid holiday but the volunteers are required to change schedules and not be paid.
Vacations are not scheduled per the employee anniversary date but annually and must be taken or lost and no paid vacation time but not given opportunity to use – otherwise no one would be there.
