My former wife supplies insurance coverage for our two children as ordered by the court because she qualifies for California's low cost Healthy Families insurance coverage and I don't. She has primary custody (70%/30%) and I pay her child support. The judge ruled that I am to pay half of all out-of-pocket medical costs. My former wife is billing me for half of the cost of the insurance coverage.

Is that a "medical cost"? I don't believe it is. I believe the cost of the insurance was considered when calculating the child support amount. Anyone know for sure?

In Indiana, the cost of medical insurance is figured into the child support. I don't know about California. Look up your state's child support guidelines. Or look at your break down of the support calculations. Ours was shown in that.

Good Luck.

Half of the insurance premiums is not considered a medical cost. That stuff is usually figured into child support. All you are required to pay is actual bills she gives to you from medical providers.
