years ago during my pregnancy i was diagnosed with cancer. baby was born just fine with no problems but my husband and i fearing with what was to become of my medical problems we had a family member step in and ask if she could raise the child for us. we agreed and were grateful for it. the matter was very quickly handled by the family members and they drew up some papers for us to sign from a judge awarding them custody of the child. we were told the child would know who we were growing up. they lied. they never told the child until on 15th birthday. we tried to visit they would always come up with an excuse why not. we always made sure the child had presents each birthday and xmas. family member would call us and tell us what to buy for the child and we would each time. now years later the family members take us to court for child support. i don't understand. can this be legal? what rights if any do we have as parents. my husband always tells me dont cause any problems for the child because we promised we wouldnt interfere with the upbringing with the child but now this. i am very confused to say the least. oh and i had 2 operations to remove the cancer so now i am well. thank you for your legal advise if you can give any.
