My daughter called me this morning, because she got a child neglect papers and a court date sent to her this morning.. she's scared to death.. the story.. a couple months she had a child pass away, 2 months old from sids.. thats when it started.. today she got these papers.. they told her the things held against her, which im not going to put here.. but she is scared she's going to have her others taken.. She called me and ask if I would take temp. custody of a couple of them.. she has 5.. no question that I would do that for her.. but can she do that now, after she already has a court date set? she told me the papers said she couldn't move.. would it be legal for her to give custody of her children away before she goes to court? I mean to like me he mother?

where is the father? she will need his permission to sign custody over to you

Not necessarily. mom has to rights to automatically bypass the father of these kids and give custody to you. He has rights to custody over grandparents.

mom needs to abide what the paperwork says. It is a little concerning she has so many kids and one has died, I have a feeling soclial services thinks there is something else to this.

Your first concern should be the safety of your grandkids. If mom is automatically wanting to give the kids over to you, something is going on in that house.

It is possible social services will remove the kids from you and either give them to the father(s) or foster care.

You need to contact the case worker to see if anything can be worked out with letting you keep the kids. Your daughter need an attorney.
