What are the rules if my sons father wants to sign his rights away? do i have to agree? does this end child support? how does he go about doing this? will we have to go to court? will i have to sign something?

He can't. He cannot sign over his rights just to get out of paying support. If it were that easy then all deadbeats would want to do that. Unless the child is being adopted out, no can do. If you do not want child support from him and you do not go on assistance and he does not want to see the child then that is between you 2. If I were you I would not allow him to walk away from his responsibilities.

Thank you for your reply. someone told me that the only way he could do this is i have to sign a paper saying that i agree to let him sign his rights over and that obsolves him of everything. in the state of ca i know you can but you still have to pay cs but i thought in va that he could just be done as long as i agreed
