When you asked the dealer, what were you told?

Don't be surprised if the dealer says, "Are you kidding me? No way are we going to return any part of your deposit, pal. See you in court, while you tell it to the judge, buddy."

Absolutely not! Unless the dealership financed the vehicle for you(like a buy here pay here) they won't even take it back. If you are trying to do a voluntary surrender you would return it to the bank or credit union. With $15,000 down you should have equity in the vehicle to where you could sell it and payoff the balance and have some money left over.
