I have 4 kids, ages 13,11,8, and 6 years old. I am on all of the birth certificates, but we were only married for the birth of the last two children. We seperated and finall divorced 2 years ago after she had cheated several times. During the divorce I had requested DNA testing but the court wanted me to pay to have all 6 people tested since I was on the birth certificates. At the time I could not afford to pay for the testing so I let it go even though I had doubts reguarding paternity.
I have since married and have been trying to have a child with my new wife. We recently went for fertility testing and discovered that I am not fertile, and for us to have any chance of having a child of our own we would have to have fertility treatments done. Needless to say this has been hard to deal with knowing that I had doubts reguarding my children before. The doctors cannot say when I became infertile or if I ever was, they also have a hard time believing that I have fathered 4 kids and now i can't. My ex is currently having my support order reviewed to be changed and they want to double how much I have to pay each month. She keeps the oldest child from coming to see me and she is trying to get the younger 3 to come less and less. I have requested a hearing reguarding the support order. I would like some advice on whether I would still be held liable to pay support if the children are not mine because I have heard that since I have been the father to this point I would still be held responsible for support since I have been paying up to this point. Is this true? If the children are not mine and I am still responsible for paying support and it doubles like the order is stating then I would not be able to afford to have a child of my own and I don't think that would be fair to me, and their biological fathers would get off scott free.
