How many weeks notice do I have to give?

So I am going to leave my job with a company since I think they are going to lay off a lot of workers. The people at the top are greedy executives and keep us as slave labor. Even if I am not cut they will probably tell us we have to all pull up our sleeves and work more hours. (Yeah right as if these dry cleaned jerks work as hard as we do.) How many weeks do I have to give them notice. If I could, I would be happy to tell them on Friday I am not showing up on Monday. I still might give them some courtesy because my own boss isn't such a jerk.

If you resign you cannot collect UI benefits, if they lay you off or reduce your hours you can. Think carefully

You are not obligated under the law to give them any kind of notice. Unless you have a legally binding and enforceable contract that specifically says otherwise, you can walk in one day and as you are leaving say, "Oh, by the way, I quit and today was my last day".
