how long alimony last

:):angelE]i been married for 27 years and almost a year ago my husband left me and my 26 year old disabled son.he move in with someone else.he did not file for divorce he just want to be live by himself and with somebody.that way he can only give me a certain amount of money,so he can keep the rest.he is a retire military and have another job that pay a good salary.finaly i did what i have to do, file for divorce recently,and my guestion is how much alimony i will get and how long that alimony will last,is it,15,20 years,please i need your advice before he spent it all.:angryfire

You need a lawyer. I believe there are special considerations when a military pension is involved.

As far as alimony is concerned, unless there is a special military provision, an award of alimony is state-specific. In some states, alimony is generously awarded, while in others it is more difficult to get. It is also not possible to predict the length of the award.

If your son is your disabled dependent, you may be able to ask for child support.
 
You need to file for divorce ASAP and ask for alimony. You may get lifetime alimony but nobody is sure.
