I left my boyfriend and left all my things. Now he's harrassing me to get my things out of his house, but won't tell me when I can. Every day I pick he says "no" that won't work. I lived and farmed there for 7 years. Everything I ever acquired is at that house; including appliances, farm equipment, saddles, horse tack, lawn furniture, house furniture, gym equipment, etc. It will take me about one full day to get all my things loaded up. I am willing to bring in whatever I need to get it done. There is NO "Joint" property whatsoever. I'm getting really tired of this game. What can I do ??
If you want an entire day to get your stuff, you'll have to go to court and sue him.
That takes time and money.
It also requires a lawyer!
A small claims court doesn't have to power to order him to allow you to retrieve your stuff.
So, forget that idea.
You can contact the police of sheriff and request a civil standby.
Depending on the department's policy you'll have anywhere from a 10-15 minutes to get "some" items, possibly an hour.
An hour, on a civil standby is rare.
But, in rural ares, it sometimes happens.
You might be able to do this a couple times.
The ONLY way to get ALL of your stuff is to seek a court order.
I suggest you contact a couple local attorneys and discuss this with a couple of them.
They can provide you with ALL the details and the costs.
Don't worry, most attorneys will meet with you for free during the initial consultation!
