I filed for a chapter 7 bankruptcy in June of 2011 for $5000 in back fees owed to my HOA for my condo, I also decided to give up the condo in the bankruptcy so it was surrendered to the lender. The bankruptcy discharged on 8/16/2011. Yesterday I was served a summons by the HOA attorney. They are sueing me for HOA fees, attorney fees etc. My bankruptcy attorney advised me that since I was giving up the property the association fees would be paid at the time that the lender reclaimed the property. I'm not responsible for these fees am I? How do I respond?

You should refer ALL inquiries about ANY debt to your BK attorney. No, the debt should have been discharged in your BK. You'd be smart NOT to correspond directly with anyone. If contacted by anyone refer them to your BK attorney.
