I don't know where to start really...I'm sort of nervous. My step father( my sisters father) is a disturbed man, threatened to kill me and my brother, throws fits of rage where he breaks things and yells profanity at us kids. I am out on my own, 23, my brother is 17 and can choose to go to his fathers( and mine) but my sister is stuck there. She is 11 years old and is scared that since me and my brother are gone and close to leaving that she will be his next target. He has physically attacked my brother, slapping him and pushing him. He has come very close to hitting me when I lived there. I am terrified that he will attack her next. My mother is...I don't know what is wrong with her, battered woman maybe? She refuses to see the problem...blaming us for provoking that sort of behavior in him, because we know how he is.
My question is where do I start? Do I talk to my mother first or just try and get guardianship? How would I go about that? I am very willing to take on full responsiblity of my sister. What if he fights for her? Neither my mother or him have a job, they never have any money, little food, and they beg me and others for help.
I just don't want my sister to have to go through the terror of worrying if he would come in and hurt her in the night like I did.
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.
