grandmother will not return 13 year old son

my son is 13 and has told his grandparents (whom have bought him a bike taken him places all summer gave him lots of money)he does not want to come home...so i took my costody order to the police....they told me even thought you have an order that you have costody we can not go get him he is 13 and your order is from 2002.....so i go to the court house....they tell me that i need a lawyer to know what forms i need to file they cant give me legal advice....so i go to get leagal aid aproved no probems there.....great think im making progress....go to all 22 lawyers on the list and everyone of them tell me it will be a month and a half befor we can take you on.....i say i just need to know what papers i need to fill out(all say) sorry i cant tell you that unless you are my client and i know the history.....school started yestorday....my son is not there i tell the receptionist the story she says we can only keep him inrolled for 15 days.....grandmother cant inroll him in school without costody????? my son is 8 hours away from me and im going in cercles any sugestions would be helpfull please......

This does not make sense. Grandma does not have legal custody here and this is some sort of custodial interference. The police should honor your court order. Where is the father here? Are these the maternal or paternal grandparents? The 13 yr old does not get to choose where he wants to live. Sounds like you need to file some sort of emergency ex-parte order an attorney wher the child is should be able to help you. What state are you in?

He is growing up now, there must be that he has got some freedom and the reason why he doesn't want to return.. But it might be temporary...

1. You are wrong. Children do not get to decide where they live and there is something VERY wrong with a grandparent that would pull this crap.

Totally wrong. Grandma has NO right to keep a child ahe has NO LEGAL right to. In most jurisdictions this is custodial interferance or kidnapping.

Your question has more or less been answered. I would tell Grandma to put my son back on a plane or I would be filing a request for a warrant. She is committing the crime of Interference with Custody. The age of your custody order is quite irrelevant if it is the last custody order issued. It's good till he is an adult.
