Forced Wi-Fi Use

As an apartment resident we are being forced to pay $75/ month for a wi-fi system that was recently installed. We already subscribe to a wi-fi provider and don't need or want this more expensive service. Is there a legal way to stop being forced to accept this service? Or is moving to another apartment the only solution?

Moving is a solution that ONLY requires you to make a decision.

In the future, make sure you KNOW every cost BEFORE signing a lease.

What does your lease say about it?

Not just whether the lease mentions Wi-Fi specifically, but whether you can be charged for additional services that become available during the lease period.

Read carefully.

And what is your lease term? If you are on a month to month lease or near the end of the lease term then your landlord can tell you he/she is adding that provision to your lease when it renews even if it is not in the lease now. Then you'll have a choice to make: move to avoid the fee, or stay an accept what is basically a rent increase for you.
