Filing Contemp Charges for Spousal Support

I am recently divorced as of August of 2008. I have a court order for my ex husband to pay spousal support as of the 1st of each month until March of 2009, however, he paid August spousal support but has neglected to pay anymore. We both had attorneys through the divorce. My attorney sent many letters and calls to my ex's attorney with no response. This was costing me more that I was making. I had already spent and now an in debt more that $10,000 on credit cards for attorney's fees. I had my attorney draw up a notice of withdrawal so I could file a wage assignment myself, against my ex husband. That is in process but he is still in contempt of court and I would like to file contempt charges against him for non-payment and late fees. He make a very large amount of money and I am an unemployed real estate appraiser trying to get into a new career and need the spousal support to help during this time of transition. How do I go about filinf these forms and do I NEED an attorney? Help anyone please. Thanks

I believe there are also family law facilitators at many of the courthouses. Call and ask if there is one at your local courthouse.

I have issues with my employer sending my alimony to the wrong place and never seeing them so maybe that will help since I can't find what to do when an employer won't do the right thing

I'm up to 25K in dept to my attorney and only 8k was for the divorce and that was in 2004.
The rest was for trying to get what they courts ordered and it's still not over court wise with the property settlement.

Again, nothing about what to do when the employer won't take responsibility for a garnishment that is late or never in coming.

Wage Garnishment

I had that problem in Tennessee -- they just would not take it out of the paycheck. I sent a copy of the court order to the CEO of the company by registered mail and a letter explaining that the company was not garnishing the paycheck as the court had ordered --they were "helping" my ex out by not taking the money.

I got online to find the CEO; address and called first to talk to his secretary and make sure I had the name and address correct. I also copied the letter to the judge and put CC on the CEO"s letter so he knew the judge got a copy of it. The CEO letter was sent registered mail, signature required. The money began to be taken out almost immediately. It was the local people who actually worked with my husband and whom he was able to manipulate who were not doing the garnshment.

Worked for me . . . . .
