If a employee contract says that the employee appoints (company's name) as his/her exclusive agent and intermediary with respect to any opportunity for any position with client during the term of this agreement.

could somebody explain this to me.

I'm a contractor working with a client(another company) and I applied for a job within the clients company. I'm just wondering if this has anything to do with me applying for a job with the client.

It might. But without seeing the entire agreement and seeing the phrase you refer to in context, it's impossible to say for certain.

You should show the agreement to an attorney in your state for a more definite answer than a message board can provide.
