I have been paying $2,500.00 a month for 2 years now. I was unable to afford an attorney at the time, I was stilling living in our home, we rent. All the bills were still being paid by me. Just scraping by and just before x-mas. I have 3 kids that need a normal holiday. They are 10, 13 and 17. Their mother borrowed money from her mother to get an attorney. Her mom has died recently and she has just received over $200,000.00 . Her share of the estate. My ex works for the school district so she has her income and I was working for a Builder at the time and my gross was $5,600.00 a month. Thats if i didnt miss a day. I was paid as a sub contractor and was 10/99'd . The judge ruled that child support/ alimony was to be $2,508.00 a month with the alimoney being$600.00 of the total. Currently my oldest 19 is still living at home. I was given 30 days to move out of a home that we rented. We were married for 19 yrs. I am a contractor and you accumulate lots of tools and supplies over the years. I had everything set up great at home. I had nowhere to go and i had to move everything out to storage. I spent the whole month throwing away money into a dumster and moving the rest into a 10x30 public storage unit. Aint cheap. Am I paying too much and? How long does alimony last? Does her inheritance change anything for me. I am barely getting by and work has slowed down. With her huge lump and all the rest of my monthly bills I cant afford to pay my taxes. I am going down. I need help.

If you have had a reduction in pay you should be able to file for a reduction in CS. call around to any attorney to see if anyone is willing to help or go down to the court house and file the paperwork yourself. what state are you in? you should have never agreed to pay such a high amount of support.
