Good Afternoon,
My grandmother passed away in august of 2006. In her will or estate she left a substancial mount of money for her two grandkids, myself and mybrother. The executor on the account is our biological father, her son, and i stress biological because he is no longer in our life and hasnt been in 20 years. It has been two years now and he has not budged in letting us know to come and get what is ours, or even how we can obtain it. I beleieve our names are on the account but he is the executor, is there anyway we can get around him and get what was left for us?

You need to get a copy of the file from the probate court and see what has been done. It is public info and they will mail it to you for a small fee. He is not the personal representative of the estate unless he has been appointed by the court. You need to move on this immediately since two years is the statute of limitations in many states.

It would not be unusual for the money to "evaporate."
