I was divorced after 18 years of marriage in August 2003 in the United States. My ex husband has subsequently relocated to Zurich, Switzerland. He is a senior executive for the Swiss Subdiary of a major US corporation. He is challenging a commitment outlined in our divorce settlement related to sharing shares I was awarded. I have refused to compromise on what he is asking, and its possible he will ask for the divorce settlement to be taken back to court.
Now that I have lost confidence is his good will and honesty, (the drama reads like a soap opera) I feel that regardless of the outcome of that court decision, I want to make sure that other aspects of our agreement are validated in Switzerland.
Does anyone know what I have to do to get the divorce settlement "enforced" or "recognized' in Switzerland? I am hiring an attorney to help, but want to be as informed as I can.
