I am currently working on a paper concerning emancipation. I fyou have had experience in this field, please answer the following questions to the best of your ability as soon as possible.

Thanks.

1. What do you feel is good about the process of emancipation?
2. How often does a court declare emancipation, compared to the instances when they don't? In other words, what percent of the people who apply for emancipation are granted emancipation?
3. What do you feel about kids too young to be emancipated, but they need a different living situation?
4. Do parents have much influence over the emancipation process?
5. Have you had any contact with people after they have become emancipated? If so, how are they?
6. After emancipation, does the newly emancipated person have to pay taxes or get a full time job?
7. Have you heard of success emancipation stories?
8. What are the options of a teen unable to support him/herself but is being physically abused at home?
9. What about legal guardianship? How does the custody of a child pass from one person to another?
10. How can an unrelated adult help someone in that kind of situation?
11. How many sources of help does a teen have?

As a side note, these answers can vary widely by state since there a number of states that do not have emancipation laws.

What state are you refering to, in particular?

1. What do you feel is good about the process of emancipation? Very little. Very few teens are actually ready to be on their own when they think they are
2. How often does a court declare emancipation, compared to the instances when they don't? In other words, what percent of the people who apply for emancipation are granted emancipation? About one tenth of one percent of minors who apply for emanciation are granted it
3. What do you feel about kids too young to be emancipated, but they need a different living situation? In whose opinion do they need a different living situation?
4. Do parents have much influence over the emancipation process? Yes. In many states, they can block it altogether
5. Have you had any contact with people after they have become emancipated? If so, how are they? A good half wish they'd never done it
6. After emancipation, does the newly emancipated person have to pay taxes or get a full time job? They have to be able to support themselves. If they can do that without a full time job, more power to them, but few of us can do that. Of course they have to pay taxes on their income. Why wouldn't they?
7. Have you heard of success emancipation stories? No. That doesn't mean there aren't any, but the ones I hear from are the ones who realize they made a mistake.
8. What are the options of a teen unable to support him/herself but is being physically abused at home? To contact CPS
9. What about legal guardianship? How does the custody of a child pass from one person to another? By one adult going to court and applying for guardianship
10. How can an unrelated adult help someone in that kind of situation? There's no one-size-fits-all answer to that question but outside of being emotionally supportive and/or calling CPS on their behalf, usually they can't. If they are relatives, that's a different story.
11. How many sources of help does a teen have? That varies by state but in all states there is some version of a Child Protective Services.

...
2. How often does a court declare emancipation, compared to the instances when they don't? In other words, what percent of the people who apply for emancipation are granted emancipation? About one tenth of one percent of minors who apply for emanciation are granted it
....

I did not realize that it had skyrocketed that high!

Wow...I learn something every day!

Thanks, cbg....:angel (You are the best.)

Yeah - somehow I have doubts about this "paper". It sounds more to me like either a kid trying to gauge the likelihood of their emancipation or the referenced "unrelated adult" who is afraid they're going to be sued by the kid's parents.

Emancipation = (full time job) + (supporting yourself 100%)

Some of these kids thinks emancipation means "Give me money but do not tell me what to do!"
