Do not pay for eBay items using Western Union.

If you are asked by a seller to do so, stop the transaction immediately and report the matter to eBay / Western Union.

Criminals and criminal gangs, often from Eastern Europe but with contacts in the West, are exploiting the lack of security, accountability and traceability in eBay and Western Union's systems to steal tens of thousands of dollars.

Western Union offers *NO* protection whatsoever and will take no action against a fraudster on your behalf.

Your money will disappear in minutes.

This is very good advice and unfortunately I hear about this all the time. Western Union use is a good indicator that you will need extra care to validate the seller and the merchandise.

Note -- that if the deal sounds unbeatable, it might very well be and better to let the deal fall through than lose the money outright.
