e-bay slander?

An e-bay buyer sends an e-mail I felt was disrespectful. I cancelled his bid and gave "disrespectful e-mail" to e-bay as the reason. He then threatens to sue me if I don't remove "disrespectful". Does he have a case? What should I do to protect against suit and threats? Thanks ,Tom

You probably can safely ignore that. On what theory does he want to sue? Defamation? False light? He would have a hard time to make a case. Even harder to prove: any damage. And then the hassle of suing: he would have to sue in your jurisdiction, the costs...

You might want to send the emails to e-bay's administration though, they might have kind of a mediation system.
