My jurisdiction is: Arizona

I was charged with an OVI in Ohio in November of 2007. In July of 2008 I relocated to Arizona. My lawyer at the time assured me that if I showed up for my initial hearing I didn't need to worry about further appearences and that I was ok to move. I was skeptical, but trusted him. About 2 months after living in AZ I received a letter form the court with a copy of my laywer's withdrawel of counsel and a failure to appear notice. I need to know if there is any way to settle the matter without the expense and time of going back to Ohio, and possibly being incarcerated and losing my high paying job here in AZ.

that's a tough situation. One that definately requires a GOOD lawyer(sounds like you didn't have one, previous).

Unfortunately, you need to hire an OHIO attorney. Do so as soon as possible, but this time, interview them thoroughly and ask if they've had any cases like yours.

Good Luck. If it's a first offense hopefully things will work out.

Also, if you haven't already You need to get an Arizona Driver's License. why? Because Ohio has no authority, and they can't suspend it.
