Me and my fiancé are being charged with dog abuse. Our puppy died a couple weeks ago because someone hurt him. We didn't do it but they are only interested in us not the rest of the people who live here. They said there would be warrants for us soon. Our futures are on the line and they won't take the time to investigate anyone else for this. What do we do?

Could we have a little more details. Do you know or have any idea who hurt him? Why are they just interested in charging you two when others live there also? Who is they like cbg asked? Thanks.

This is very simple for you.
You have a right to remain silent.
If you're smart, us eit.
If you have spoken to the police, don't do so again.

If you are arrested do the following: Before you are arrested, speak to a bail bonding company about the costs for bail on such an offense,
When arrested remain calm, do as told, be polite, do not speak about the case, do give your name, date of birth, address, other identifying details,
Call the bondsman (or have your cash bond ready - either way, you'll need someone to cosign with you, as you normally can't cosign your own bond), be patient, get released,
Stay out of trouble while out on bond,
Appear in court,
Plead NOT Guilty,
Hire a lawyer or ask the court to appoint you one to represent you,
Speak ONLY to the lawyer about YOUR case,
Stay out of trouble,
Work with your lawyer,

Let water and justice take its course, there is little you can do once this begins but remain calm, be patient, shut up, and wait!!!!

They is the SPCA investigator. They claim that since we are the owners we are responsible but they haven't investigated anyone but us. I mean we are the ones who work full time and came home to him hurt. We took him to the vet and they didn't take X-rays or anything. They just treated him for liver shunt. The vet referred me to a specialist in Philadelphia, PA and there they figured out he had been hurt. The cops said we should have known but we took him to the vet as soon as we saw he was hurt. I just don't understand why they haven't investigated anyone else when they see we did everything for our puppy.

You both came home to him hurt - where was he kept while you were both working (was he not some place safe)? He was your responsibility.

From what you describe it seems unlikely any criminal charges would ever come against you. Ignore all this nonsense and move on.
