Does sick time hold no value when you resign?

Looking at Maryland Dept of Labor FAQ forum, it says "employers are not required to pay out sick time when employee leaves".
My employer is saying I will be getting my accrued leave time paid out, but sick time will not be as stated in Personnel Regulation. I have over 90 hours of sick time.
What am I supposed to do? Legally, it seems like there's nothing I can do. Giving up 90 hours which amounts to 2,000 dollars is not easy.
Is there "anything" I can do to get a least portion of my 90 some hours paid out?

No, there is nothing you can do to force them to pay out your unused sick time. Few if any states require that sick time be paid out at termination. Unless you have a valid, binding and enforceable contract that says they will pay it, the law is not going to force them to.

Sick time is there for one purpose and one purpose only; to keep your paycheck whole when you are unable to work due to illness. It is not an accruable form of wages.
