Does a metal bolt up carport cause your property taxes to go up?

It depends on how crooked your county is, mate.
In most counties, if it did increase what the county steals from you, it would be minimal.
Generally, it tends to be tax neutral.
I suggest you wait and see.
That's the only thing I can do is wait and see. I'll put my size 10.5 in they ass if they try to tax me on it. Was told by my neighbor they don't tax you for metal carports but he always to drunk to see anything. Wait and see is what you say.......

That's all you can do. Real estate values have been on the rise since they bottomed out after the crash.
Chances are that your tax assessment and taxes (like mine) are steadily rising and even a few thousand for a carport isn't going to make any difference.
It all just depends on how aggressive the tax collector in your county is as to whether it will even be noticed. I know of a small town where nobody wants to paint their house, put in new windows or even a new roof because the tax assessor notices EVERYTHING. Now in a larger area, they just don't have the time or inclination to do all that driving around.
Funny you mention windows. When I made complaint and tried to get my taxes down a couple years ago. And I had old louver glass windows which we all know are very inefficient the tax assessor told me the windows won't depreciate the value because it's considered part of home construction. So I installed new windows but just didn't put the outside trim on one back window so I can claim as unfinished remodeling.

. Not even a week later I had a business card on my door from tax appraiser. Called them back and they noticed my metal carport. They told me it wouldn't raise my taxes very much. But wonder what very much is to them? Either way I set up an appointment to come back so I can pinpoint everything I see wrong with my house whether it's a crack in a window or unfinished. Tired of these guys screwing me over.
