A law firm was appointed to settle the estate of a cousin who was mentally challenged.
Both parents deceased.
Tied up between early 2000's until settled in 2016. Money distributed.
Lot in NC is up for auction because taxes not paid.
Undoubtedly land was sold without heirs signatures.
Do the heirs have a right to this lot in NC

Appointed by whom? Did the court appoint a particular lawyer at this firm to serve as executor of the estate?

No idea what this means, but it appears you are telling us that the estate took more than a decade to administer and that it was "settled in 2016."

Money distributed.

To whom?

If, as you wrote, the estate was "settled in 2016," are we to assume that whomever inherited this lot failed to pay taxes (and that this no longer has anything to do with your cousin's estate)?

Undoubtedly land was sold without heirs signatures.

Sold by whom and to whom? Why would any heir have to sign anything?

If, as you wrote, the estate was "settled in 2016," then the heirs have whatever rights are in the court's order settling the estate. Obviously, no one here has read that order.
