Harassment, Stalking, Misconduct Disorderly Conduct

I was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge - my understanding is that this is a violation in NY.

Anyone know how this is typically handled by the courts? Should I get a lawyer?

Complicating factor is this occurred about two hours from my home, so I'd prefer not to go back if I don't have to.

When looking for attorneys, make sure they specialize in criminal law. Preferably, nothing but criminal law.
