I am two months pregnant. I just got an email from the employer that I was demoted (and potentially a pay cut) because of the pregnancy.

I have been sucessfully covering all my responsibilities at work even for the past two months. The employer said that the demotion is due to my person reasons, which could only be the pregnancy.

I am seeking for advice to see if this could be a discrimination case.

Thanks.

Do they know you are even pregnant? Unless your employer specifically said you are being demoted because of the pregnancy (which is illegal and stupid of them to do) you have an uphill battle proving your case. You can certainly file a complaint with the EEOC and start there.

Yes, the employer knows. However, they are not using this as an excuse. It sounds stupid, buy they said I was demoted due to my personal reasons. Why would I want myself to be demoted?

Employers have the right in most cases to fire or demote you for any reason, except for one protected by the EEOC.
