In 2000, I had a shoplifting misdemeanor. :o In a pre-employment application for a job that I know I am qualified for, do I have to disclose these details for the background check? The misdemeanor was in a different state than where I currently reside. The job application is looking for things in the past 7 years - e.g. 7 years of residence history, 7 years of past employment. Since my conviction was 8 years ago, will they still check?

Thank you. Is it appropriate to check the box for "Yes" and in the "Provide details" section, I could say I can disclose actual details during the interview? Or will they need the full details for the background check?
