I was served child support papers a few days ago for a child I never knew exsisted. The child in question is now seven or eight years old and the mother never told me she or he ever existed or ever tried to contact me about the child. What are my rights as far as being denied access to the child in question if the child is proven to be mine. Wil I be required to pay child support for the first seven or eight years. And what can I do about her denying me if this child is mine. Is there any laws concerning the mother denying me any rights as a proposed father is this child is determined to be mine. I live in Texas

Your first step is to request a DNA test. If this child turns out to be yours unfortunately there is nothing that prevents women from doing this. There is no SOL on establishing paternity. If the child is yours you can certainly file for visitation.
