daughter cant p/u paycheck

My daughter works for a chain restaurant and says she is owed a paycheck (payday was 7 days ago) but says when she calls, they tell her she must speak to the district manager to pick up her pay. She said she called every day or every other day and they will not release her pay. Anything either she or I can do or anything we should know about picking up a paycheck in a timely fashion?? To hold a paycheck for over 7 days I feel is taking advantage of a person. We live in Virginia

There is nothing you can do. This is not your concern; it is your daughter's. Her employer has no legal obligation to even speak to you about her employment relationship.

If they want her to speak to the DM, why has she not done so?
