Custody, visitation?

Hi!
I'm divorced..and i was so confuse because the judgement says that the plaintiff, which is me, shall have custody of the minor child. and the defendant, shall have visitation with the minor child: that the defendant will have liberal visitation rights with the child.

I'm planning to go out of country with my son for a week in canada, do i need a consent from my ex husband? he didn't visit his son for almost 9mos already.
And do i need my ex's signature to renew my son's passport?

Please help me..thanks

You have sole custody? Sole LEGAL custody?

i don't know either...it only says on the judgement i shall have custody.
My son is living with me..i paid all his needs.

Can anybody enlighten me this? thanks

If you are only going for a week you will likely be back before anyone even knows you were gone. Better be safe than sorry though.
Most orders I have read specified a length of time that you would be away, or a permanent move, would require consent from the other parent. Yours has nothing to say about even leaving the county?
