custody questions

Just found this site today. I live in upstate NY, and my boyfriend and I have similar situations, on both sides. We have been together for over 4 years now, we have a 2 year old together, and I have an 8 year old, and he has a 9 and 7 year old. His ex wife has physical custody of the children, and I have physical custody of my son. Our problem is that his ex wife is not fit to have the kids, and no matter what she does, she gets away with it. There were/are several social service cases against her, and yet nothing gets done.
My son's father is letting his brother be around my son, and nothing gets done to change it. Anytime I have gone to court, I lose more with my son. And same for my boyfriend, he loses more and more when he goes back to court. I don't understand our legal system. You have 2 parents here, who take care of their children, and lose more and more, and you have 2 screw ups, who let crap happen to the kids, leave them in unsafe situations, and get more and more awarded to them!
What is up with that????
My question is, how can we change this? For his situation, more than mine for right now>?
Any advice would be great, thanks.

You left out alot of info but Dad needs to get an attornney and prove that he is the batter parent. Seems to me Dads allegations are unfounded if he keeps losing in court. Also in regards to your sons father, why isn't his brother allowed around the child? He is free to be around the child unless he is a sex offender but if he isn't unsupervised with the child, probably not much you can do.

ok, with bf's situation, he isn't making allegations, kids school has called, and others have called. She's even admitted to some of the allegations. And yet nothing happens. He's gotten lawyers, and lost more and more everytime he's gone to court.
My situation, his brother has been accused by my son, of touching him. Couldn't prove anything, just my son's word. I know there's a lot left out, I was just trying to get as much as I could out in a short period of time.
